I made this cake for our friend and next door neighbour Pete who was celebrating a very special birthday this weekend. Pete wanted something simple, with blue icing and very chocolaty! So keeping this in mind, I made a chocolate cake with blue icing and a shooting stars topper in silver, brown and blue colours. I always make my own modelling paste and that is what I have used for the stars. And oh yes, the buttercream filling in between the cake layers was also coloured blue for added effect!
